USBFever recently released a new USB hub for tablets that promises compatibility with 90% of tablets. It does so by targeting the two most popular tablet makers: Apple and Samsung. The Universal USB Hub and Card Reader has two 30-pin connectors, one that fits the iPad, one that fits Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
In addition there are slots for SD / MS / M2 / TF memory cards, a micro USB port for connecting to a PC, and two USB 2.0 ports for connecting other devices or cameras. When connected to an iPad or Galaxy Tab the hub can act as a camera connection kit or just give access to the storage on a card.
Both Apple and Samsung sell USB and SD card adapters for their respective tablets, but neither sells an all-in-one like this. Instead, the USB and card readers are separate pieces. Also, those kits both cost $10 more than this hub.
There are all in one hubs like this available for the iPad, there are few (if any) out there for Galaxy tablets.
The only thing the hub doesn’t allow for is charging, despite the A/C adapter port on the side.
This is a nice little accessory for blended iOS/Android households or people who, for whatever reason, have both an iPad and a Galaxy Tab. It’s also useful to business people who encounter both iPads and Tabs whe doing quick transfers between co-workers, clients, or other partners.
Even if you only have one or the other, it’s still a good deal for a jack of all hubs. You can buy it at
USBFever for $19.99.
