Now a part of the Microsoft Office Division

Microsoft has announced that the acquisition of Yammer, the leading provider for enterprise social networks, has now completed. On top of that, Yammer's team is now a part of the Microsoft Office Division. Microsoft acquired Yammer for $1.2 billion dollars.

"Today, we are pleased to announce that all closing conditions for Microsoft’s acquisition of Yammer have been met, and the deal is completed. We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome the Yammer team to the Microsoft Office Division. We’re excited about the road ahead. We look forward to accelerating the adoption of Yammer’s standalone service, and enhancing the social capabilities in Microsoft’s communication and collaboration offerings," Microsoft announced in an official blog post. Yammer was launched in 2008 and has more than 5 million corporate users. The service allows for employees to join a secure and private social network for free.

Microsoft's Office 2013 now comes with Yammer integration. In Office 2013, Yammer delivers a secure, private social network for businesses. You can sign up for free and begin using social networking instantly. Yammer offers integration with SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics. "The acquisition of Yammer underscores our commitment to deliver technology that businesses need and people love. Yammer adds a best-in-class enterprise social networking service to Microsoft’s growing portfolio of complementary cloud services," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer stated.
