Mcafee Total Protection Beta

if any is running the mcafee total protection beta and have problems with the program updating here is a solution that might work for you. i use the program and have a problem with it updating and went to the forums over there and read that there is a conflict with nvidia drivers. here is what seems to fix the problem.

The Solution

Updating my NVidia drivers solved nothing (manual updates didn't work, fix didn't work, auto-update didn't work). Stopping the service (Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services) and setting it to manual did nothing either (even after restarting). I did the following:

1. Click Start, type run, type msconfig.
2. Click the Services tab. Disable the checkbox next to "NVIDIA Display Driver Service".
3. Restart.
4. Right click McAfee tray icon. Select updates.
5. Wait, it took about 2 minutes for the update icon to appear.
6. A notification appeared after about 5 minutes of updating, prompting me to restart the computer.
7. I reverted step 2, renabling the service.
8. Restarted.
